Scion xB service and repairs

Scion is a discontinued marque of Toyota that debuted in 2003. Intended to appeal to younger customers, the Scion brand emphasized inexpensive, stylish, and distinctive sport compact vehicles, and used a simplified "pure price" sales concept that eschewed traditional trim levels and dealer haggling; each vehicle was offered in a single trim with a non-negotiable base price, while a range of dealer-installed options was offered to buyers for personalizing their vehicles. The Scion name, meaning the descendant of a family or heir, refers both to the brand's cars and their owners. In an effort to target the generation Y demographic, Scion primarily relied on guerrilla and viral marketing techniques.

The 2015 Scion xB is a compact, boxy wagon known for its unique design, practicality, and affordability. It's a part of the Scion brand, which was a subsidiary of Toyota. Here are the key features of the 2015 Scion xB:

Comfortable seating for up to five passengers.

It produces around 158 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque.

Technology and Infotainment:

Standard features include a Pioneer audio system with a touchscreen interface.

Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free calling and audio streaming.

USB and auxiliary input for connecting external devices.

Safety:

Standard safety features include antilock brakes, stability and traction control, multiple airbags, and a rearview camera.

Optional features might include a navigation system and additional safety upgrades.

Customization:

Scion vehicles, including the xB, were known for their customization options and personalization potential.

Various optional accessories and aftermarket parts were available to tailor the xB to individual preferences.

Fuel Efficiency:

The fuel efficiency of the 2015 Scion xB varies depending on factors such as driving conditions and transmission choice.

It generally provides reasonable fuel economy for a compact wagon.

Affordability:

The Scion brand, including the xB, was positioned as an affordable option for young buyers looking for a blend of practicality and style.

Please note that the availability of features and options might vary based on the specific trim level and packages chosen. Product Reviews:

My kin folks were following me while I was driving on the highway and when we got to where we were going, I was informed that sheets of paint were flying off my almost new truck and hitting his windshield! I called Scion and was told that my 3 yr. 36 thousand mile warranty had expired. If nothing else it should be a violation of hazardous materials all over the roadways! They should not sell new cars that they forget to prime. The whole truck needs repainted!

So to the folks complaining about missing cabin air filters in their Scion tC. They were never intended to have one. There is a place for one because the car shares internal dash components with other Toyota models. Shaking my head at the person who thinks she may have developed health issues from lack of one...

I purchased a 2006 model Toyota Scion Tc in July 2005 and sometime in 2012 the "back-door garnish" (basically the trunk latch) broke during normal usage. This is a well-documented issue that exists for a lot of Scion models and finally, after years of owner activity on Facebook, Scion issued a "warranty enhancement notice" in late 2013. Unfortunately, it was listed as only valid from 7 years after first date of use. So I received the notice after it was already expired. Dealership refused to do the repair, even acknowledging "the timing is really messed up" -- suggested I contact Toyota customer service to authorize an extension. Corporate office refused.

2006 Scion xA Airbags did not deploy - I was in an accident on a freeway last week in which I was rear ended by a car and pushed into the back of a truck. It smashed up the rear and front of my car, totaling it. Neither the driver or passenger airbags deployed and judging by the damage, I believe in all rights they should have. I've contacted an attorney and learned that I can have the airbags inspected by an expert but it would cost $3,000 to $5,000 out of pocket. The driver of my vehicle and I suffered whiplash and bruises to various areas on our bodies. I'm very upset and disturbed that the airbags did not deploy. If the accident had been any worse, I wonder, would I have been killed as well due to the failure of this safety feature.

I have a 2008 XB. I am having the same problem with oil consumption. The oil light barely flickered once. Luckily, I checked the oil and it was 3 quarts low! I can't believe this! I have over 2 years of payments left on this car! This is the worst problem I have had but not the first. Last year, the air bag harness went bad but was covered under the warranty. Last month, the electronic steering went bad but was not covered and it cost me $750! This car truly is a piece of junk. In light of this, I will never buy another Toyota product again. This was my second Toyota. My first was a Corolla which lasted 10 years with zero problems and is probably still running somewhere. I sold it as I wanted a new car. It’s a big mistake! Everyone having these problems needs to complain about this, so maybe they will be recalled and not a total loss will be caused. I cannot afford to just put a new engine in or buy a new car!

Last weekend my ~1 year old Scion FR-S dies completely out of the blue on the 405 while my eight month pregnant wife was driving it. This is a car that is just over one year old, was bought new from this dealer, and is still under warranty. We get it towed to this service center Saturday. Eddie ** tells us: "We'll know what's wrong by the end of the day!" and "We'll cover you for a rental. Just call us Monday morning!" Monday morning comes around. No word about what is wrong with the car. All calls to Eddie go to voicemail. No calls are returned. I walk to the service center and find Eddie. He says he is still "waiting on authorization from Japan". He tells me he will not offer me a free rental. I'm late to work and have to rent a car from Enterprise to get to work. The next day Eddie tells me that they will not cover clutch repairs under warranty. I have never abused my car, and in previous warranty services have reported clutch/transmission issues which they failed to investigate properly or fix. They tell me that if I want the car fixed under warranty I have to authorize a tear down of the transmission. They provide no quote detailing how expensive this tear down will be. They say that if they find the problem after the tear down is the clutch they will not cover it. If the problem is in the transmission and is a covered by warranty they will cover it. I ask them about the other possibility, if they tear down and find no issue with the transmission. They say in that case I will have to pay for the tear down (again, not provided with any estimate of tear down cost).I decline based on the fact that I have never abused the clutch, and we have experienced and reported previous clutch/transmission issues (and have recorded video evidence of this prior to service where they "could not reproduce it" happening) it does not seem reasonable that I should be liable for paying for investigatory work to determine what is wrong with my car under warranty. I decline to authorize the tear down. When they refuse to negotiate or provide further information, I am force to tow the car to another dealership for service.

I took my car in for the 5000 tire rotation and asked them to look at the rattle in the sunroof when open. I got an answer that it is the design of the sunroof. So the engineer that design this car, design the sunroof to rattle. No fix.

I have owned several Toyotas in my lifetime and have never had a complaint...until I bought the 2013 Scion xD. Very poorly put together death-trap. The noises that come with every day, normal driving are constantly increasing. The front end sounds like it will fall out any moment, the windows squeak and squeal when put up/down, the rattle "somewhere in the dash area" is maddening, and if I have to hard brake...oh my gosh...sounds like the front of the car is hitting the pavement! And I have new, very expensive tires on the car! The service personnel at the dealership keep saying that the problem "can't be duplicated." I have 25,000 miles on the car and the serpentine belt and battery had to be replaced. The interior is cheap and falling apart. WORST decision I ever made!!! Toyota...wake up and pull this car off your list! You are losing loyal customers in droves! This car is dangerous!!! Now to hear that airbags aren't deploying on impact!!! God, what next on this car?

Well, it sure was a life changing experience to say the least. I am not a car-savvy user who knows ins & outs of how a car works and I admit that. But I am a layman who understands that when you get your car for a routine service and end up paying ~$500 for it, the least you can expect is the car works perfectly fine. What you do not expect is while you are going at 75MPH on a freeway, your car steering wheel freezes and within 30 seconds all the indicators start going haywire, you barely escape a life threatening accident and your wife has a panic attack in middle of all this!! What you do not expect is then the service center to care so little for what has happened that it starts defending the work done earlier well before even inquiring if the people associated are fine!! What you do not expect is the engineer then gives you another $400 bill saying its for the battery and alternator failure! But guess what, Round Rock Toyota Scion, you tick all the boxes here!! Kudos to you for that! Can I put a price on my wife's panic attack and a migraine that this caused her? Can I send that bill to you? Can I put a price on the trauma that I had to go through because of all this that made me miss the work??? To add to that, the reason I drove that car was because your agent asked me to add about 30 miles and get it back to the center the next day... Now I am not an expert, but it surely looks like you couldn't care less for customer's satisfaction, let alone his or her life! Thank you for the wonderful experience!!!Now, your service manager was nice enough to give me a discount ($55!!!!) and I do thank him for that. But this has to be the worse customer service experience I've ever had in my life! Thank you for that!!! Also, if you intend to reply here, please do not ask me to call the service center again or try and tell or convince me that the "issues" that almost led to 2 accidents were all coincidental because I've heard that and I truly do not have any trust or time left in the excuses that you would make.

My 2008 Scion xB power steering failed on 04/12/2012 at night while leaving Publix. The steering wheel would not turn left or right despite operating perfectly fine when I parked the car to go to Publix. This car is in mint condition with only 47,700 miles on it. I bought it in June, 2008. I noticed a weird indicator on the dashboard and checked the owner's manual. The manual stated to take the car immediately to the dealership. I called World Toyota in Atlanta, GA, but they were already closed. I called a tow truck to have my car towed to my house.I called World Toyota on 04/13/2012 from work the next day for an appointment on Saturday, 04/14/2012. Today (04/14/2012), I had the car towed from my house to World Toyota in Atlanta, GA. Brian at ** is the service contact. Brian told me that the ECU (some sort of computer device) is no longer working and needs replacing. I was told the cost would be about $1,068 to repair and the car would not be ready until possibly Tuesday. This steering failed with no warning like a typical car where it is low on steering fluid and makes the typical noises when steering. My car drove like the day I bought it up until I returned to it from Publix to head home. The cost of the repair is annoying considering the car is in mint condition (VIN **). No one has any explanation why a part that is not even kept in stock could just fail with only 47,700 miles and only a few months from its fifth year of ownership. What really galled me is the possibility that this could have happened to my wife while driving around 70 mph on Georgia's interstates.
