EVs are pretty widely accepted as the newer, greener path of the automobile. Sometimes, they're pitched as a solution to climate change that we can all buy at a dealership. Product Reviews:
I highly discourage anyone from purchasing the maintenance plan with Nissan. You are better off setting aside a few dollars in savings toward maintenance. I wanted peace of mind but have found it difficult to get anything covered. I have had two tire issues with a 1-year-old car. First time I had to jump through hoops to get a new tire. The second time I had a complete blowout that shredded my tire and damaged my wheel. I have never experienced this and they refused to cover it by saying I hit a curb when there was a large nail clearly embedded in the sidewall. I acknowledge I probably did hit the curb... after the fact. A complete blowout of a tire is very scary. Bottom line... not worth it!!!Tina of Fort Worth, TX

Nissan consumer affairs, it's a joke. I contacted them 6 months after buying a brand new Nissan Rogue. That 1st week my car started having problems. I took it to Nissan's service multiple times. They did not record anything in their system and told me the car was fine. My passenger air bag light stays on at all times and a noise on the drivers strut (wheel) every time you take a right turn. So a manager drove the car, said everything was okay. So again they sent me home worried. A week later again I take the car to service, they said the car was fine. Then in September 2013 I took it again to Nissan service. They again said nothing is wrong. I asked for a manager, he again said nothing wrong with the car. So I let it go until I saw other cars (Rogue 2013's) and not one had the issue that I have. So in December I took it again to service. They again said nothing wrong, this time I spoke with a female manager name ** in Cherry Hill, NJ. Then she decided to go in the back to check the car with me and saw what was going on. She agreed that the car was not right, she kept the car in service and gave me a rental. The car stayed in service for over a month because they could not detect any issues, then they get A professional mechanic and he replaced both front struts and the sensor of the air bag. It was okay for 3 hrs then the same thing happened again. I called them and told them the same issue is happening again. They kept the car again and they still couldn't find the problem. So they gave up, I guess, and told me again nothing wrong. I contacted consumer affairs and they pretty much did nothing. They told me if I didn't want to drive the car to the service and get it towed, I was going to be responsible for the fees. I fear driving my new car. How great is that??? So I contacted lemon law. They told lemon law that they wanted to offer me $2000 for the inconvenience. HELL NO I don't want money I was to feel same in my car. That's why I bought a new car so I didn't have to drive back and forth to the car service.olta of Philadelphia, PA

About 2 months ago, when leaving work one morning, my dash lit up - ABS failed, slip, TCS and service engine. I shut the car off and restarted (it was 2AM, no one to call), same lights, but I had to drive home for about 18 miles. The brakes work. I called service the next morning and took the car in to be checked. The ABS module had failed. The dealer has been unable to get the ABS module to repair my car, the way this system was designed. The failed module was drawing power from the battery all the time so I had to disconnect and reconnect the battery every time to drive and park, to avoid having a dead battery (I work for a 5-star resort in transportation. Meaning, we provide service 24/7 to our members and guest). The solution was to disconnect the module from the battery. Now, not only do I not have ABS, no speedometer or cruise control, this is now a matter of safety and not just the convenience of having the vehicle I purchased. The dealer was unable to get the delivery info for replacement.Jan of Brunswick, GA

I came in to speak with someone about the paint peeling off my car. My car is a 2003 Nissan Sentra. I was told my complaint was denied due to it being 7 years old. Roof and trunk are peeling off. Car is well maintained, waxed 2 times a year. I feel that Nissan should at least fix this problem. This is my first new car, and I am disgusted with the way it know looks. I have been told by several body shops that this is a manufacture defect. Please think about this, I'm ready to call turn to ten, Susan **. I don't come down to this, but I will. Thank You.Alice of Cumberland, RI

My CVT transmission was replaced at 70,866 miles by Nissan because of all the problems I was having with it. This car has given me problems since day one. 3 weeks ago, my car left me and my two daughters stranded on side the road out of town when it would not accelerate when we stopped at a red light. After getting my car towed ($355.00) back to the city where I live so that I can get it to the nearest shop, I am now being told that I need to replace the transmission again. I now have 131,000 miles and it is no longer under warranty and they want to charge me almost $5,000 to replace my transmission. That 60,000 miles since my transmission was replaced. So obviously the CVT transmissions need to be replaced every 60-70,000 miles. WHICH IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. MY FAMILY OR I WILL NEVER BUY NISSAN AGAIN AND I WILL MAKE SURE I MAKE EVERYONE AWARE ON EVERY SOCIAL SITE AVAILABLE and THROUGH WORD OF MOUTH...ROSELYNN of Marrero, LA

Nissan is, by far, one of the worst companies in terms of customer satisfaction. You can clearly see it from all negative reviews. Nissan is pretty much done with you once they were able to secure your money. Please stay away from Nissan with a clear margin. I've bought my car 4 years ago and I take my car to the certified dealer (Royal Moore Nissan Hillsboro) couple of times a year for regular maintenance and any major work needed. I was hoping that my car would last, as long as a certified technician touches it. Obviously, I was too naive. I took my car to another dealer (CARR Nissan). They told me that my car has not been touched for years. This is only 1 month after my visit to the Royal Moore with full service.I've complained to the Nissan consumer department. Their answer was that they cannot do anything about it and that I need to close with the dealer. The dealer is certified by Nissan but Nissan cannot guarantee the best service. The dealer obviously does not care about the customer satisfaction. That is why I sought help from corporate Nissan. For me, this is not how you treat a customer if he/she is willing to spend ~20K on your car.Muhammet of Hillsboro, OR

I bought a 2014 Pathfinder in January of 2017. It was just out of warranty by mileage and the ABS computer went bad. The Nissan Dealership here locally was very nice and helpful and had never seen this issue before. It is unsafe and unreliable because the speedometer, gas gauge, and the 4-wheel drive do not work when experiencing this issue (I live in a snowy area so I do need the 4 wheel drive to turn on when those conditions are present). I would also say that 36k miles and one prior owner with a clean CarFax Report is a bit early for the ABS computer to fail and so I do believe this is a manufacturing issue with the unit failing prematurely.I completely understand that once the car is out of warranty, Nissan does not have to do anything to help out. However, given the nature of the issue and how recently the car was out of warranty (and only by mileage), I would have thought they would be able to help out in some way. For instance, taking care of the labor or even just giving the dealership a direct purchase cost on the part without a markup. The part is $1400 and the labor is $600. I would have been happy with a minor discount on the repair. However, as other reviewers have commented, the consumer affairs department of Nissan exists to read you the warranty terms. This is my first Nissan, which I bought because of the name and associated reliability, but I will never buy another Nissan after this experience.Lindsay of Louisville, CO

I purchased a 2015 Nissan Rogue in January. This summer when I traveled a period of time (about 45 mins.) the a/c would stop cooling. After having it checked by my dealer/service I was told that's normal since it is how the car gets better mpg. The only way I can keep cool on long drives is to turn off the a/c when it stops cooling, wait a period of time and let the a/c reset then turn the a/c back on. This in my opinion is a very poor design and should be redesigned.ROBERT of Swedesboro, NJ

$5 fee to pay online? $10 over the phone? I refuse to be charged for something that really just makes their lives easier (paying online cost them a heck of a lot less than them having to pay a staff to receive and cash the checks). There's no fee to mail a check, so that's what I did instead and I should've guessed, they never received it and explained that to me the day after payment was due. How convenient. Now, I have a $25 late fee + a $5 fee to pay it online. Way to go, Nissan. Chalk that one up as a $30 win. Thirty seven lease months from now, you will have forever lost a 28-year-old potential customer for life. I lease $40k+ vehicles, that's at least 50 years of revenue potential pissed away for poor business practices.Aubrey of Palatine, IL

It all started on July 6th when we took our 2014 Rogue (which was purchased in 2015) in due to damage to the clear coat. If you are not familiar with clear coat it is the top protective layer applied to the paint job. The damage was caused by bird droppings. We had a car detailer look at it and he informed us that if the dealer attempted to buff it out that it would scratch the paint because the clear coat was so thin. When the car was taken in to the Nissan service department in Duarte, Louisa the body shop manager and Paul ** the sales manager were informed of the situation. When the car was ready for us to pick up (7/10) we found more damage done than when we left it. Over spray on the tail lights, roof rails, side, rear, and spoiler.Since then we have talked to GM Matt, Consumer Affairs and will be calling the BBB. It has been over a month now and we are still in a rental car because every time the vehicle is supposedly ready they seem to find new ways to damage the vehicle. The car is now at the 3rd party body shop which last time we checked (8/10) left spots on the interior seating and shifting counsel. Before going to the body shop the dealer in Duarte scratched the paint trying to do a quick buff job like we warned them not to do. Then when they finally broke down and decided to clear coat the entire vehicle like we requested from the start, they ended up scratching the window frames and still left over spray on side mirrors and tail lights. The car is no longer new thanks to their lack of understanding and attention to detail. We have totally lost enthusiasm in owning our Nissan and feel like our joy of buying a new car and the hard work that went into it has been robbed from us. Then another sales manager called us in and offered us a newer model with a higher monthly rate to help resolve the issue, which just enraged us even more for wasting our time and again being misleading. Never again will we be fooled by Nissan, and the word will spread.Jimi of Long Beach, CA
