My Ram stopped in the middle of road 3 times now. First time I took it to the dealer they replaced a cable. Second time they replaced the mpc because the water went in it. It has been raining but I can't even take it to a car wash. And now the third, the engine cut off. The dealer is telling me it's the alternator and it's not covered under warranty because it was muddy. The cost is approx $2000. Let me just say that when I bought the Ram for work, it was to be able to travel in a construction site. Even they advertise it going in mud, mountains etc. I am very disappointed of this truck. Seems that I won't be able to take to work anymore and leave it in the parking at home since it won't survive mud. Never going to buy a Dodge truck ever again. The 60,000$ truck is not made for construction people.

Updated on 01/14/2019: The worst truck ever saga continues. Since picking up my truck after 14,000 in damages, almost 3 months in the shop, my truck still jumps from park into drive while running, and the dashboard lights up and the speedometer needle jumps to 10 mph with the engine off and the key out of the ignition. I am at 29,000 miles and according to my insurance company and two dealers that I’ve spoken with, I am stuck with this truck. Oh, of course the dealers would love to sell me another new truck with no deals or incentives. Way to go Mopar!! Another non-satisfied customer!!!Original Review: I will try to keep this as brief as possible. Bought the truck new in 2017. July of 2018 received recall for auto park. Previously I had no issues. After I took the truck in, nothing but problems with the auto park. Either the truck won’t go into gear or it will jump from park into drive. In October 2018 my wife was sitting in the truck with engine running and in park and it jumped into drive and drove her into a pond. After 700.00 in towing, almost 14,000 in repairs, 2 1/2 months of being in the shop and I just picked up the truck December 27, and the truck still jumps into drive from park! Anyone heard of any lawsuits concerning this issue? We have contacted the NHSB and we encourage you to do the same!!!

2008 Dodge Ram 3500 with a severe front-end wobble. I purchased this vehicle used from a Chevy dealership with 46000 miles on it. At 50000 miles I had a violent wobble that started at the right side of the vehicle, spreading to the left, then moved to the back of vehicle. This wobble shook all in the cab of the truck. I returned the vehicle to the dealership where it was purchased in April 2011. There was no problem found with the front of the vehicle, so the dealership contacted a local Chrysler dealership that had no knowledge of "known front end problems" but suggested it could be caused by a worn tire. This dealer rotated the tires, balanced, and did a front-end alignment, which was covered by an extended warranty I had purchased; yet no failed components were found. This death wobble (as shown on the net) continued and at the present time it is at a Chrysler dealership. I have been contacted by the business stating they found no failed components, so the insurance will not cover any repairs; but the dealership feels it is the steering box linkage, which can be replaced at one thousand dollars (my cost) without a guarantee that it will fix the problem. Chrysler has known about the problem for years and has not come up with a solution to a poor design and will not assist in any repairs. The problem is covered in issue #74 of the "TDR" (Turbo Diesel Resource) where it talks about possible repairs and after-market business, such a Geno's Garage, where they are marketing a "BD steering box stabilizer" which they state “will eliminate the wobble.” I checked with the NTSB for complaints, only to be advised there have been no deaths reported caused by this wobble. I want consumers to use caution when purchasing a used vehicle 2500 or 3500 Dodge Ram, but I also know that all vehicles does not have the problem or just not reported.

I owned a 98 Dodge Ram right off the showroom floor and before I gave it to my son, it only had two major issues. One was a recall for towing package, they had to weld an extra piece of metal to the trailer hitch. The other issue was, I am assuming the same as most other people that owned that year with the Dashboards that fell apart.I currently own a 2011 Cummins Turbo Diesel, that had the left tie rod recall, took the truck into my local dealership, oh and I bought from a privately owned dealership about 200 miles from where I live. The dealership I took it to for the recall didn't ask any questions or anything about doing the work. I bought this truck in July of this year and have already put over 5K miles on it and she's running like a dream. In my opinion, if you bought your truck for something other than work, then you bought the wrong thing. These are work trucks, built to be USED!!!! If you bought it for the NAV or the Phone or fancy Radio, then maybe you should have looked into buying something else for that price, like a Benz, BMW, Audi or Volvo. Just my opinion. Oh the 98, when I gave it to my son 9 months ago, had over 120K miles on it. The Cummins I traded my Challenger for and only paid 23K for it. Just because these vehicles have all that fancy stuff on them doesn't make them not be a Truck!

I drive a 2001 Dodge Ram, 2WD, 5.9L Magnum V8, 46RE 4-speed auto, my father was the first owner, and I can say for either of us, the experience has been nothing but great. I've put around 15,000 miles on it myself, and the total mileage is 122k miles just about now. The dealerships have been very trustworthy and capable when my dad owned it. I personally have done all repairs myself though since I started driving it. Reliability? Pretty good.Back when I was around 10 years old and my dad drove it, it was a snowy cold day and my dad somehow got the dumb idea to drive it up the neighborhood hill to check on us while we were sledding. He got stuck, obviously, and had my mother give it some gas while trying to push it. My mother decided "give it gas" meant "just hammer the pedal to the floor", and she redlined it for a solid ten seconds while my dad was yelling to stop. The engine was bone cold when this happened and it snapped a valve spring. I'm sure most people on here would blame Dodge for that, but that's just plain stupidity that caused it. Thankfully the valve didn't fall into the cylinder and the repair was simple. At around 90k miles the torque converter failed, but didn't take the rest of the transmission with it so that was good.I have a friend who works for Chrysler and he told me that they had a problem with some sneaky workers throwing bits of trash in the torque converters during assembly to sabotage them, and it took quite a long time for them to figure out who was doing it. I found this pretty interesting. When I started driving it (105k miles), I changed out the shocks which made it drive wonderfully, and the ball joints were worn out, one of them started getting noisy, so I replaced all four of them. Chrysler somehow thought it was a good idea to rivet them to the control arms, which made replacing them awful. I sat in my driveway with a drill and angle grinder removing 14 rivets, and it was quite a nightmare. The heater core started leaking, which really can happen on anything, so I replaced it and also replaced the totally cracked and fallen apart dash pad (huge problem on these 2nd gens). I decided I wanted to install a shift kit in the transmission, so I did that and saw there was quite a bit of friction material in the pan. The front band was pretty worn out, and judging by the gunk I saw in the pan, it was about time for a full rebuild of the transmission. I started preparing to do that and one school morning I shifted it into reverse, and had to give it a TON of gas to get out of the driveway. When I got home that day I had no reverse so I knew it was time (did the rebuild at 120k miles).During the rebuild, my findings were that the clutch packs looked pretty great for the mileage, and the loss of reverse was due to the rear servo cracking. I'd imagine this was caused by the increase of line pressure by the shift kit, but rear servo failures in 46REs aren't unheard of in totally stock circumstances, so who knows. The failure of the rear servo caused the servo pin to stick open, cinching the rear band down extremely tight and shredding the friction material. This also ruined the rear drum. The front band was indeed worn out, and if it had run any longer it would have destroyed the front drum in a few thousand miles.I completed the rebuild for about $1000, however if I had used OEM spec parts it would have cost me around $400 to bulletproof it. The parts I used are for extreme horsepower and drag racing situations, and the transmission is good for around 800hp now. It shifts extremely quick now and this truck is a total blast to drive. If you're looking at a 1994-2001 Dodge Ram, what I can tell you is that the engines are incredibly reliable and have ton of low end power, the transmissions are very well designed and easy to work on while having some easily fixable weak points, the dash pads WILL crack if they haven't already, the frame is incredibly strong, and the truck is a good solid truck that will last you for many years and many miles if you take good care of it. 5 stars!

I own a 2009 Dodge 2500 with 85,250 miles on it. While pulling a 28 foot 5th wheel trailer, the front brakes locked up while traveling down the freeway almost causing us to almost go into the ditch. We brought it to the dealership, and they found that all the rubber brake lines had failed on the truck. The rear brakes were not working at all and the front brakes had locked up. They stated that this is something that is showing up on some Dodge pickups. This is a huge safety concern that we feel needs to be addressed by Dodge.

2006 dodge 3500 dually diesel 4x4 megacab - Love my truck don't get me wrong. Paying for it is one thing, keeping it on road is another. Not looking for legal action but want to say I was very happy when warranty was over and didn't have to listen to Dodge dealers lie to me and repeatedly bring my truck in to be left for entire days to fix minor things repeatedly. Unfortunately first major repair as failed transmission which was just after warranty. Bought truck new and never abused a day, never towed more than 27' travel trailer and did all recommended service. Before warranty was up needed steering pump, tie rod fell off in driveway, many u-joints, rear of vehicle issues and vibrations, tach is sporadic, wiper motor, and more. At 76000 km they said e brake was screwed and as a favor would do work if I bought $1100 worth of parts because they were fixing warranty stuff anyway... I did. Now I'm suspicious and curious about the e brake because I just paid a good shop $1900 to rebuild it because the e brake blew apart, my rotors were garbage, seals were taken out and such.... why? I have never abused truck or even used the e brake (may be one problem) and most km's are highway. 147000 km's on a 2006 in 2014.... never abused. I work away a lot and just want to go home and enjoy sports trips with kids... I am leaving out a lot but I'm tired of writing and am still very pissed about recent bill. Am I missing something? Mechanic thinks I drove with e brake on for damage I had... I did not! Used to call truck my baby, but to save face I call her my old girl now. :) Wife begs me to buy a new truck. Funny thing is I bought this because it's my dream truck and only way I could afford it was to purchase over 8 years like a moron... so I'm still paying for it, lol. Don't know how long I will keep it because I really do love driving it and would die without mega cab but.... do the repairs ever end? Divorce over a truck? ;)

Purchased brand new 2017 Dodge Rebel on January 1, 2018. So far I've only put 600 miles on it. Noticed above driver's door a hump under the painted plastic trim which covers the roof seam/joint. Notified local Dodge service department. They took pictures to send to the Dodge engineering department. The local Dodge body shop also inspected it. It appears at the factory when it was built, some metal debris was left under the sheet metal when it was crimped and spot welded. This caused metal to protrude at the joint. Also, there is a visible hump in the sheet metal. To top that, at the factory, they simply threw the plastic trim over it and painted it! There is a HIGHLY VISIBLE 1/3" rise in the trim. I noticed a leak on my driver's floormat. The body shop said it was from the roof seam issue. How in the hell did this get through even the weakest of quality control both at the factory and at the dealership? The dealership has now had my truck for a week. The headliner has been removed for inspection. Called dealership Friday and they said the Dodge engineers are looking at the problem. How can this end well for me? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

We've only had this since March 28th, 2017 - Over-Engineering is an understatement. EPA has pretty much got us choked down. We bought this big boy to pull a 5th wheel, but thus far, we stay in the repair shop more than anywhere else. Check Engine Lights repeatedly on with O2 Sensors and EGR valve replacements have pretty much got us reconsidering our purchase. With the steering locking up from "time to time," (we're waiting on a recall,) we don't trust it to take us to the store, let alone on the road for pleasure. It's been anything but... We just had to have the Injection Pump replaced and that set us back 4k. We are on a "wait and see" list now for the O2 sensor to come on again and they will work towards faulty wiring harness possibly. We simply can't afford this for all of this poor design. My 1st Ram and wish I had our Ford back. We are NOW dealing with standing water in the back from leaking rear brake light that Ram has known about for YEARS, yet they don't correct poor engineering on that issue. We also have water pouring thru the rear sliding window and fixing to go get replacement seals and sweeps for that. We are hoping for a buyback on this monster. Please help us. It's really a bad thing when service technicians drop their heads and shake them when they see you coming AGAIN and they call you by name. SAD!!!

Purchased a 2011 dodge 1500 4x4 Laramie 5.7 Hemi new in April 2011. Get in truck just seven months later and it will not drive. No gear action. Had it towed to the dealership and day one, the tech says he doesn't know the problem. Day two, doesn't know; day three, ask me why the transmission fluid looks new. Heck, I don't know, you tell me. Day four, informs me that it's the transmission pump. It's shot. In seven months? I've been seeing a lot of transmission complaints about dodges. Makes one wonder.
