I have a BMW X5 (2012) which I purchased new, it had an AC problem however that won't be fixed by BMW. Here is my story on the X5. After warranty is done at 50K miles this is where all the troubles start. Thermostat failure a 2500$ repair, Burnt Oil smell, fluid leak repair $2500 in 2016 by a BMW Repair service. Took it to the dealer to see if it would resolve and he replaced the same Oil Gasket leak at East Bay BMW in Pleasanton, CA for roughly $2500 in Aug 2017. Now I take it back to the dealer and ask him about the 2 year warranty and he says it is a different issue and I need to spend another $1500 to get this fixed. There is no end to the excuses for bad repairs but I wanted to call out that my experience with BMW and their repair technicians is so poor that they refuse to accept responsibility or address the issue.Krishna of Pleasanton, CA

In the last two months, I've had to replace the battery and the ENTIRE I-drive (a.k.a.--brain) in my 2009 BMW 328I series with 26,000 miles (not a typo, I have another car) to the tune of nearly $3,000! I purchased the car new at the BMW dealership in Tulsa. I am furious and disappointed in BMW! I had such high hopes for this supposedly high performance auto. The dealership in Tulsa seemed at a loss to explain why this would happen in a car with such low mileage, yet didn't hesitate to charge full fees. The car is barely out of warranty. I would love to find out who the regional manager is in Oklahoma and am pursuing that now.Sherri of Tulsa, OK

Driving along and all of the sudden a fan came on with a loud blowing sound. I parked my car and planned to take it to the shop the next day. I checked the coolant, it was a little low so I added. The next while on the way to the shop, still loud blowing, the engine overheat warning came on. I pulled over and towed to the shop. As soon as they hear the fan come on, they said immediately, the water pump failed - "We get about 4 or 5 a week on this car." As a result, I have to replace a water pump, and cracked radiator, $2,000. I check the internet and found many, many of the same complaints. I read that there was a recall for the X5's with the V8 engine. I imagine the design is the same and therefore the recall should include the V6 engine as well.Vivian of Seatac, WA

BMW decided to charge me an extra months payment after the trade-in of my car. I didn't even own the car at that point. Couldn't drive it, couldn't see it. Of course customer service was condescending trying to make me feel like I am stupid for request my funds returned for an item I didn't have use over. From one to the other rep I spoke with didn't even know the correct policies of the company for different situations. I got the runaround. Learn from my mistake, avoid BMW!Erik of Milwaukee, WI

I purchased a 2013 328xi for my wife in June 2016. It came with 18 alloy wheels and brand-new Pirelli run-flat tires. After a few months, the rear passenger tire kept losing air. I took it in for inspection 8/23/17 and was told it was due to a cracked wheel. My wife never hit anything with that wheel that would cause such severe damage. The service rep said that she probably "hit a pothole" and that the run-flats don't provide enough cushion to protect the wheel. In other words, it's a defect in the wheel/tire assembly (borne out by a class-action suit settled by BMW for cracked wheels on the Z4 in 2015). The solution offered by the service agent was to replace the wheel and tire for $1,035. I asked if BMW would take back the run-flats (with only 5700 miles) and replace with conventional tires so I wouldn't risk another wheel crack from a pothole. The answer was no.So I paid for a new wheel (discounted 50% by BMWNA after filing a complaint) and took the car to Discount Tire and bought 4 new Conti Extremes in trade for the run-flats at $30 each. Cost me $758. They inspected the right rear tire and saw no evidence of damage. There was also no evidence of impact to the wheel - just the hairline crack. BMW of San Diego could have done the right thing by replacing the defective wheel at no charge (the car is still under warranty), but instead tried to fleece me for the full cost of a new wheel and a tire that wasn't damaged. In fairness, the service manager, William **, made a good-faith effort to make this right. But the dealership and BMW didn't care. BTW, the car actually handles much better with the Continental Extreme Contacts, and the ride is much more comfortable. We just have to pray that she won't get a flat, because there ain't no spare.Darrell of San Diego, CA

Bought new 2008 full service record drive, went out 31000 miles. BMW took bike hostage for 2 half weeks prime riding season to figure out if they would stand behind it. Dealer said, “Don't worry you had all service required done, should be no problem.” After holding bike 2 and a half weeks, “Oh sorry too far out of warranty.” Dealer gives used drive 1600 dollars, no warranty. This is a normal BMW consumer experience. Dealer said all the drives they rebuilt none have ever came back but up here you don't get that many miles per year, all confident in their rebuild but no warranty. Total terrible experience, looking at different kind of bike next time. No more high quality BMW experiences for me.Neil of Menasha, WI

BMW offered me exceptionally POOR Support for their 1984-91 BMW 524td engine. BMW’s customer support was as though they had never built the engine or even heard of it. Finding parts became a worldwide internet search nightmare, as USA dealers were ZERO assistance. BMW routinely changes part numbers, but apparently leaves no follow-up reference to find the part one seeks. I ended up contacting BMW's CHAIRMAN Harald Kruger with a message that lifted him off his chair. The immediate result from Kruger's office was that BMW had found the "unobtainable" and "extinct" parts I requested... But at DOUBLE their advertised price. They changed their part number (for the 5th time in one instance), then doubled the price. Was I shafted?? I'll never waste another nickel with BMW and recommend the same to you.SS of Mcalpin, FL

I bought the 2013 528i car a month ago. It's been at the dealer service department for 2 weeks now on and off. 3rd time back there because of the engine light. Haven't driven my car more than it's been in the shop. Contacted BMW North America... Waiting for their response. This is my first BMW so it is very disappointing since they are so expensive.FEDERICO of Santa Ana, CA

I purchased a brand new 528 BMW and the battery went dead in less than 5,000 miles. And the dealer refuse to replace it under the warranty. They make me pay for it. And now it made me upset even more. Because the battery dead again in 2 1/2 yrs later. But this time they said I have a shortage in the wires or whatever and it costs me over a $1000.00. At this point, I just gonna sell that piece of **. And never buy another BMW. I believe I've been ripped off by BMW or the dealership.Vinny of Montgomery, AL

I bought an X5 two years ago for 35k. The NOx sensors apparently are a huge issue. My car has been at a BMW dealer for 3 weeks! Still not fixed! $2000 later I don’t have my car! Called corporate, they don’t give a ** whether my car runs or not. Will not help me. These cars are lemons. Do NOT buy BMW!Terri of Essex Junction, VT
