Product Reviews:
So I leased a 2020 430 convertible in July 2019. A month later driving the car in 90° weather after two hours of driving the air-conditioning broke. Brought the car back to the dealership, they said the problem was fixed. A month later same situation. Brought it back, he said it was fixed. The following summer in 90° weather same situation after a few hours of driving air-conditioning stopped. Brought it to a different dealership, problem was fixed, it was not. Currently two weeks ago in June, driving back from the Jersey shore and 98° weather I stopped at a rest stop and left my daughter and my dog in the car. When I came back I found that the air conditioner had stopped, my daughter who has down syndrome, my dog suffered mild heatstroke. Contacted Bmw multiple times. They tell me that nothing is wrong with the car. And have yet to buy me out of my lease. So worst company ever, this car is a lemon. There’s nothing but problems with these BMWs. Do not purchase or lease then.Louise of Hawthorne, NY

I'm a long time owner of many BMWs. I've tried other cars but always come back to BMW. Nothing compares to their look, reliability, handling, maintenance included with warranty plan, and safety. Other comparable cars do not offer the comprehensive maintenance plan that BMW does, and that factor is huge and is at the top of my must-have list. There were times I looked at other cars and came close to buying/leasing, but no maintenance plan always brought me back!Brenda of Encino, CA

BMW really needs to extend the warranty in these HPFP for E60. In less than 6 months I'm on my second pump paying out of my pocket because they didn't make it good enough! And vehicle has 133K so warranty didn't cover it. Was in 127,000 first time and now back at it again! I'm really been left down from BMW! I have to say people TO STAY AWAY FROM E60's!!! It's not worth it!J. of Dedham, MA

I own a 1999 BMW 328i e46. At 0715hrs March/23/2017 I was driving to work when out of nowhere and for no reason the drivers side A-pillar and door airbags deployed striking my left arm leaving a bruise and pushing me towards the center console. I contacted BMW of North America and spoke to a representative and was asked to deliver the vehicle to the nearest dealership so they can perform an investigation. At 1525 hrs April/11/2017 I contacted the representative at BMW, she told me that the sensors sensed an impact even though there is no recent physical damage to the undercarriage of my car. She then proceeded to tell me my car's suspension is worn out and could've caused enough shock to set off my airbag.Instead of taking responsibility for an obvious manufacturer issue she then tried to blame it on age then changed back to a sensor recorded an impact. Then offered me $1500 to "Help" with repairs to my car "in-house only". I need my car. It's how I get to work so I can take care of my family. I can't cover the existing amount of $3000 to cover the rest as quick as I need my car! BMW should pay for all the damages! Airbags should NEVER deploy without an accident! The car broke itself and tried to kill me in the process. Luckily I am 230 pounds and 6'1" tall. This could've killed anyone smaller!!! Very scary and disappointing!Ian of Lehi, UT

I purchased a 2013 328xi for my wife in June 2016. It came with 18 alloy wheels and brand-new Pirelli run-flat tires. After a few months, the rear passenger tire kept losing air. I took it in for inspection 8/23/17 and was told it was due to a cracked wheel. My wife never hit anything with that wheel that would cause such severe damage. The service rep said that she probably "hit a pothole" and that the run-flats don't provide enough cushion to protect the wheel. In other words, it's a defect in the wheel/tire assembly (borne out by a class-action suit settled by BMW for cracked wheels on the Z4 in 2015). The solution offered by the service agent was to replace the wheel and tire for $1,035. I asked if BMW would take back the run-flats (with only 5700 miles) and replace with conventional tires so I wouldn't risk another wheel crack from a pothole. The answer was no.So I paid for a new wheel (discounted 50% by BMWNA after filing a complaint) and took the car to Discount Tire and bought 4 new Conti Extremes in trade for the run-flats at $30 each. Cost me $758. They inspected the right rear tire and saw no evidence of damage. There was also no evidence of impact to the wheel - just the hairline crack. BMW of San Diego could have done the right thing by replacing the defective wheel at no charge (the car is still under warranty), but instead tried to fleece me for the full cost of a new wheel and a tire that wasn't damaged. In fairness, the service manager, William **, made a good-faith effort to make this right. But the dealership and BMW didn't care. BTW, the car actually handles much better with the Continental Extreme Contacts, and the ride is much more comfortable. We just have to pray that she won't get a flat, because there ain't no spare.Darrell of San Diego, CA

BMW is the Toyota of Germany. Reading all the reviews, the non-response of the company, and the mechanic/engine problems of the car, I can't help but remember what this company is selling - a prestige status symbol. Anyone who's thinking of buying a BMW needs to take a trip to Berlin, Germany first. In the debt-ridden capital, you will see that BMWs are the bread and butter cars of Germany. BMWs line up the streets next to homeless shelters, graffiti parks, and taxi stands. Delinquent juvenile teenagers drive a BMW. Older middle class ordinary citizens drive a BMW. People who have no teeth have a BMW. BMWs are just about the most commonplace car in Germany, like a Toyota Camry here. Somehow, the brilliant marketing campaign and the high price tag for initial purchase and maintenance have convinced North Americans that BMWs are a luxury ultimate driving machine. Autobahn sounds so cool in English. In German, auto means car, bahn means way (as in U Bahn, sub-way, S Bahn, another type of subway, and autobahn, car-way or highway). Before you think that the company will value your $400,000 spending over 10 years, think again. They don't really care as they are already laughing all the way to the bank. In fact, the more expensive the maintenance, the more prestigious the brand. The brand is for people who have money to burn. The more mechanic problems, breakdowns, and barriers the company creates, the more it sets the people apart in who can maintain this prestige factor. Before you buy a BMW, go to Germany and spend a week in the major cities and walk around the poor areas. And once you see how commonplace BMWs are, the more you'll think twice about doing what you are doing.Prose of Suite 166, DC

My first experience owning a 2009 BMW 535i: I recently took my vehicle to BMW of Columbus to have my in-tank electric fuel pump and a sensor repaired. I spent $1,254.00 to have it repaired. I picked up my car on Sept. 14, 2012. Shortly afterward, I was traveling north on I-185 and suddenly my check engine light came on. I began losing power and it started hesitating as well. It appears to be the same initial problem I had and thought it was fixed. Here I am now dropping my car off to a closed (late Friday evening) BMW dealer for repairs. I had plans to go on a vacation and now once again I can't go anywhere. I have never had this to happen to me. It's unbelievable! You don't expect this from a BMW. I hope they can get right the second time around and according to all the articles I have read (which I should have done my homework before I purchased it), 2009 BMW 535i are having a lot of fuel issues that should have been addressed and now as the consumer, I guess I have to suffer now. I think BMW needs to do more about the 535i fuel problems. I took my car in to BMW of Columbus. They initially diagnosed my car with the in-tank electric fuel pump and a sensor. I had that repaired for $1,254.00 and I was not happy with the bill because the 535I was notorious for having awful fuel problems. Shortly after I had it fixed, my car check engine light came back on and I had a sudden loss of power. And while this was happening, I am saying to myself this cannot be happening to me again. This was the second time I took my car to BMW of Columbus and it took them several days to find the problem. From my understanding, the 535Is injectors had a recall and they were checked and removed by a BMW tech, removed, refitted, scanned and possibly replaced but I am not sure. However, BMW of Columbus tech discovered that the last fuel injector closes to firewall of engine. One of the injectors bolt, which holds the injector down, was broken off into the engine block. The tech who performed it tried to cover it up by screwing an oversize bolt over the top of the broken bolt. The recall was done on Oct. 17, 2011 at 50,408 from center ID: 23055, but I purchased the car from Roswell Mitsubishi of Atlanta, Georgia at approximately 57,000. According to Stephane **, service consultant from BMW of Columbus, he stated that he spoke to the BMW dealer service manager from center ID: 23055, which performed N54 injector check (B131410). He claimed that if they did do it, the car should have malfunctioned before now. I got a chance to look at the area where the oversize bolt was, on the engine block. It was damaged all around the engine block with chips missing around it. This is the second week I am without my car and I have not heard from BMW customer service specialist Jodi. I sent Jodi another email, asking her to please contact me and I have yet to hear anything as of Sept. 26, 2012.I made another call on July 27, 2012 to North America BMW customer relations. I was able to get in contact with Jodi (who is handling my complaint). I left message on her voicemail. Stephane ** from BMW of Columbus called and left a message on my cellphone and he wanted to know something because he had not heard anything from North America BMW. It has been over the three to five business days and I have yet to hear from Jodi. As of today (Oct. 1, 2012), I have not heard anything from my customer representative Jodi.Ezekiel of Columbus, GA

I purchased a 2005 X5 last week that had been in two accidents from BMW of Oyster Bay located in Oyster Bay, Long Island. I traded in my Volvo XC90 towards purchase of the 2005 X5 grey color SUV. I brought the truck to my regular mechanic to get new front tires and my mechanic found and showed me the left and right front axles were shot and it was dangerous to drive the vehicle. So I replaced them, cost me $850 for parts alone plus labor. My mechanic also pointed out it needed lower ball joints and front control arms so I brought it back to the dealer and raised hell, "How can you sell me a vehicle with all these problems?" They sold me a piece of junk. They sold it to me for $16000 less my trade. I laid out 8402 dollars for the balance due. They are now fixing the vehicle and called me today to let me know they ordered air bag parts. They won't be in until Thursday. Also, I gave them a list of all the problems that have to be fixed. The driver's door has a rattle in it and closes sloppy. The front end is shot. They gave me loaner car while I wait till they fix it. They sold me a lemon.HE T of Ny 11516, ny

I just want to let you know that BMW engineers seem to do a pretty good job mechanically with design, but they are terrible at designing electrical systems. Between my two Z3's, one is the M-series, I now had to replace the ** driver's harness five times! The airbag system design is horrific and I am sick of hassling with this. Terrible. BMW should have recalled all of their affected cars. I will never buy BMW again! Look up "BMW airbag light" on Google! A lot of people have had this problem. A lot.Ben-James of Fremont, CA

We purchased a 2010 BMW 535i station wagon from Bob Smith BMW in Calabasas 4 years ago. We even paid for extended warranty to 100k miles. The engine broke down on 89k miles. Contacted BMW North America AND Bob Smith to repair, no one takes responsibility to help us. After the car had to towed to Bob Smith for diagnosed (it was already diagnosed elsewhere to determined the engine went bad already) they told us it will cost over $1600 to diagnosed. Then they told us it will cost us over $20,000 to replace the engine. Yes, you read it correctly... $20,000 NOT $2,000.Bad customer service when it comes to warranty. Only if we could beg the public not to purchase BMW, we would. If you're thinking of owning one, please think twice before you do it. BMW will give you the best service when everything is going well, but the minute something is seriously wrong with the car they will show their true color. So sad & extremely disappointed with the way BMW handled the whole situation. We've owned 4 BMW but we are going a different direction now. Unfortunately we still have another BMW 328i, can't wait to just get rid of it as well. Sighed.Thuan of West Hills, CA
